Rio Rancho has gone 9-1 against Volcano Vista recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rams will venture away from home to face off against the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Rio Rancho is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Rio Rancho is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Farmington, who was ranked ninth at the time (Rio Rancho was ranked third). The Rams had just enough and edged out the Scorpions 10-9 on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Volcano Vista ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over Piedra Vista.

Volcano Vista's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Gonzales, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Rio Rancho's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Volcano Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
