Baseball Recap: Maple Mountain Triumphs

Maple Mountain had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Salem Hills Skyhawks on Wednesday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Skyhawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Maple Mountain got a great performance from Kavyn Carter as he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up five earned runs off eight hits.

At the plate, Maple Mountain let Mick Winward and Cayden Giles run wild. Winward went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Giles went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Giles has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kye Ward, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Maple Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Maple Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 21-5. As for Salem Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.
