Basketball Recap: Charleston Falls Despite Big Games from Trenez Lane and Treshaun Schandon

Charleston and Puxico squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Charleston had to settle for second. They came up short against the Puxico Indians, falling 67-42. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Indians are ranked 45th).

Charleston's loss came despite strong showings from Treshaun Schandon and Trenez Lane. Schandon posted nine points and seven boards, while Lane had nine points and five rebounds. Schandon has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

With the loss, Charleston broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points over those games. As for Puxico, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 25-3.

Charleston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Puxico, they have already played their next matchup, a 74-40 win against Valley on the 3rd.
