Softball Recap: St. Ursula Academy Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

St. Ursula Academy put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Conner Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since March 25th.

The result came thanks to O Basil's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, St. Ursula Academy's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was E Schauer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

St. Ursula Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Conner, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-14.

St. Ursula Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair will be back at it again later today.
