Volleyball Recap: Maya Flores Key Part of Team Effort in Yellowjackets Win

Edcouch-Elsa won the last time they faced Edinburg North and things went their way on Thursday too. The Yellowjackets narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cougars 2-1.

Edcouch-Elsa had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-16, 15-12.

Edcouch-Elsa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maya Flores led the charge by getting six digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Alliyah Ramirez, who had nine digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good server: Edcouch-Elsa was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edinburg North only served three aces.
