Basketball Game Preview: Chico Dragons vs. Alvord Bulldogs

Chico is 0-10 against Alvord since February of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Chico Dragons will take on the Alvord Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. Chico is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.

Chico is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Slidell last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Chico was dealt a 92-34 loss at the hands of Slidell. The Dragons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-20.

Chico might have lost, but man, Jordan Weiland was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 boards. That was a full 44.1% of Chico's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Alvord had to suffer through a 65-27 loss at the hands of Keene. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1040th, while the Chargers are ranked 474th).

This is the second loss in a row for Alvord and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for Chico, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Chico took a serious blow against Alvord in their previous meeting back in February, falling 86-30. Can Chico avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
