Coleville is 9-1 against Virginia City since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. Coleville will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Virginia City at 10:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Coleville has three straight victories, Virginia City has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
In Tuesday's Canine Competition, Coleville came out on top. They blew past Smith Valley 23-8 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won three matches by 15 runs or more so far this season.
Kenna Lange was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mailine Acero, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leslie Acero, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Coleville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Virginia City and Non Varsity Opponent, and Non Varsity Opponent kept the tradition alive. Virginia City took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Non Varsity Opponent on Friday.
Grace Wackerly was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Jensyn Harold was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Coleville pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 24.7 runs over those games. As for Virginia City, they now have a losing record of 3-4-1.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Coleville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .416. However, it's not like Virginia City struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
