Softball Recap: Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Comes Up Short

Luis Valdez Leadership Academy extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They came up short against the Design Tech Dragons, falling 18-2. The Lions were not able to make up for their loss to the Dragons from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Luis Valdez Leadership Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrea Mata Alejo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

As for Design Tech, they now have a winning record of 6-5. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Design Tech's side, Sonia Teismann made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Teismann was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Jeneva Fletcher and Ella Lewis did most of the damage at the plate: Fletcher went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Lewis got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Eliza Keating also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Luis Valdez Leadership Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 25-2 defeat against KIPP San Jose Collegiate on the 24th. As for Design Tech, they have also already played their next contest, a 29-17 win against El Primero on the 23rd.
