Softball Preview: Dunwoody Wildcats vs. Midtown Knights
Dunwoody has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Midtown Knights at 5:55 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dunwoody's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over Arabia Mountain. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.
Vivian Curry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Curry was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Izzy Iconis and Brooke Parkes did most of the damage at the plate: Iconis went 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBI, while Parkes scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Like Dunwoody, Midtown also got a great game from a two-way player: Maggie Morran. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Morran was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Midtown got a massive performance out of Chloe Peyton, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with a home run, two stolen bases, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Megan Bookspun, who scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Dunwoody's record is now 8-10. As for Midtown, their record is now 12-2.
