With a playoff win on the line, Mount Tabor rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 69-55 win over the Grimsley Whirlies. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Several Whirlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Henry Trent, who posted 15 points and three steals. That's the most steals Trent has posted since back in December of 2024. Isaiah Whitsett was another key player, going 7-for-15 en route to 18 points.
Mount Tabor pushed their record up to 23-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Grimsley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season.
Mount Tabor will head out to face off against Watauga at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Watauga knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 25 games -- so hopefully Mount Tabor likes a good challenge. Grimsley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
