Softball Recap: Anderson County Gets the Win

Anderson County won against Ezell-Harding Christian last Monday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Anderson County Mavericks won by a run and slipped past the Huntsville Panthers 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mavericks have posted since April 13, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Marlea Finstad, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Kaycee Baldwin was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Anderson County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Huntsville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.

Anderson County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-1 loss against Arab on the 11th. As for Huntsville, they will challenge Hazel Green at 4:30 p.m. on March 18th.
