Baseball Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Comes Up Short

St. Thomas Aquinas extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They lost 9-3 to the Hollis-Brookline Cavaliers. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Hollis-Brookline, their record now sits at 8-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

For Hollis-Brookline's part, Dylan Morelli made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Morelli has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Paul Gehan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Tyler Gryniewicz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
