Volleyball Recap: Springfield's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Springfield's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds by a score of 3-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their four-match losing streak.

Springfield walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 24-26, 25-18, 25-13.

Springfield can attribute much of their success to Jada Reese, who had 17 digs and two assists. That's the most assists Reese has posted over her last six matches.

Springfield picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-13. As for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-13-1.

Springfield and Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. The Tigers will face off against Central Minnesota Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (330 vs. 52). Meanwhile, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (ranked 365th) will meet Windom (ranked 66th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
