Softball Recap: Crete Triumphs

After losing to Norris the last time they met, Crete decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cardinals came out on top against the Titans by a score of 7-3 on Tuesday.

Madynn Dunham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kacey Dunaway was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Dunaway is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Azalyne Beck was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Crete was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norris only posted a batting average of .290.

Crete's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Norris, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crete is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Seward on Thursday. As for Norris, they will square off against Lincoln Northwest at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
