Baseball Game Preview: Richland Rams vs. Somerset Eagles

The Richland Rams will square off against the Somerset Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Richland: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Somerset has snatched up eight consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.

Richland managed to slip by Central Cambria the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Rams came up short against the Red Devils on Tuesday, falling 10-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Rams' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Richland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Robertson, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Somerset never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Bald Eagle Area. The result was nothing new for Somerset, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Jake Stoy, who gave up just four hits to keep Bald Eagle Area off the board. Stoy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Somerset let Lane Lambert and Kahne Foltz run wild. Lambert went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while Foltz got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Foltz has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Callen Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Somerset's win bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Richland, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
