Basketball Recap: Turlock Christian's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Turlock Christian came into Saturday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 61-51 victory over the Millennium Falcons on Saturday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their 29-point performance the contest before.

Turlock Christian was led to victory by Michael Miller and Cam Kelley. Miller went 10 of 21 en route to 23 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists, while Kelley went 8 for 16 on his way to 22 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Miller has scored at least a third of Turlock Christian's points. Winston York was another key player, putting up four points along with seven boards and six assists.

Turlock Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 8.2 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.6.

Turlock Christian's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-14. As for Millennium, they dropped their record down to 2-19 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Turlock Christian will welcome River Islands at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Idrees ElFarra and Miller. As for Millennium, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Aspire Langston Hughes Academy at 8:00 p.m. on February 4th.
