Softball Recap: Marion County's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Marion County barely beat Signal Mountain the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Eagles on Monday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Brynna Thomasson was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Kaylee McGowan was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Marion County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Marion County, bringing their record up to 11-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Signal Mountain, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Marion County beat the Eagles by a score of 5-2 later that day.
