It was a good run, but  Mt. Vernon unfortunately witnessed the end of their  four-game winning streak on Friday. They lost  56-30 to the Norwood Pirates. The  contest marked the Mountaineers' lowest-scoring  game so far this season.
 Norwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Gentry Davault led the charge by  going 7 of 9  on her way to 15  points along with eight  boards and three  steals. Davault is also on a roll when it comes to  blocks, as she's  now  posted two or more in the last six games she's  played.  Jayden Chambers was another key player,  as she made all 7  shots she took to post 15 points and five  rebounds.
Mt. Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Norwood,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 8-2.
 Mt. Vernon will get a bit of extra time to process the  loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nevada at 6:00  p.m.  on January 6, 2025. As for Norwood, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  match,  a  64-50  defeat against Strafford on the 28th.
