Baseball Recap: St. Raymond Boys Ravens vs. St. Peter's Eagles
St. Raymond Boys extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 10-7 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Peter's Eagles. The Ravens were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 3-2.
As for St. Peter's, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.
For St. Peter's part, Justin Levine made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, Levine posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Levine wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Macaluso, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
