Softball Recap: Cumberland Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Altoona

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cumberland Valley). They put the hurt on the Altoona Mountain Lions with a sharp 17-1 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Eagles have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cumberland Valley pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Altoona, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cumberland Valley is set to take on their familiar foe Central Dauphin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.5, the Rams 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Altoona will challenge rival Chambersburg at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
