Baseball Game Preview: Prairie du Chien Blackhawks vs. Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Red Hawks

The Prairie du Chien Blackhawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Red Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Prairie du Chien is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Prairie du Chien and Platteville meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Blackhawks lost 12-3 to the Hillmen.

Prairie du Chien saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abe Amundson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. Another was Jack MacEachern, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau). They blew past Luther 7-1 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Hawks.

Calvin Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Davis was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those hits marked the first that he got this season.

The win got Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau back to even at 2-2. As for Prairie du Chien, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Prairie du Chien beat Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau 5-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackhawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
