Softball Game Preview: Malvern Leopards vs. Lake Hamilton Wolves

Malvern is a perfect 6-0 against Lake Hamilton since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Malvern Leopards will host the Lake Hamilton Wolves at 5:00 p.m. Malvern will be strutting in after a win while Lake Hamilton will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Monday, Malvern got the win against Bismarck by a conclusive 19-3. The Leopards haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Kendall Watson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Watson was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Addi White was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Alexis Jenkins, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Malvern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Lake Hamilton entered their matchup against Sheridan on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Lake Hamilton came up short against Sheridan, falling 19-2. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lake Hamilton's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Malvern, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Malvern took their victory against Lake Hamilton when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-5. Does Malvern have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Hamilton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
