The Shelby County Wildcats will head out to face off against the Randolph County Tigers at 11:20 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shelby County has three straight victories, Randolph County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Shelby County earned a 16-11 win over Thorsby.

Aaliyah Chaisson (2026) made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Chaisson (2026) was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kaydence Connell (2026) was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Maddy Minton (2030) also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Shelby County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Randolph County scored first but ultimately less than Ranburne in their game on Thursday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 13-12. Even if the Tigers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Gracie Huckeba led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Bryer Thompson was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Shelby County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Randolph County, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.
Shelby County took their win against Randolph County when the teams last played back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
