Mt. Vernon is a perfect 5-0 against Lexington since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Yellowjackets will welcome the Minutemen at 12:00 p.m.

Mt. Vernon blew Watkins Memorial out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Watkins Memorial got their revenge. The Yellowjackets fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Yellowjackets couldn't push the score so high this time.

Mt. Vernon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayden Packard, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Zac Clow also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Lexington hadn't done well against West Holmes recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Wednesday. The Minutemen narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Knights 8-6. That's two games straight that the Minutemen have won by exactly two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Lexington and bumps their season record up to 3-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Everything went Mt. Vernon's way against Lexington in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Mt. Vernon made off with a 14-1 victory. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Minutemen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
