Flag Football Game Preview: Sequoia Ravens vs. San Mateo Bearcats + How To Watch

Two dominant signal callers in Hannah Orton and Kayla Lichaa are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sequoia Ravens will host the San Mateo Bearcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Sequoia came into this matchup off a tough 28-point loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Galileo by a score of 35-33 on Thursday. The Ravens have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Madeleine Briant, who picked up 87 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Jamie Elkington was another key pass catcher, picking up 141 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, San Mateo didn't have too much trouble with Aragon on Wednesday as they won 33-18.

Sequoia's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for San Mateo, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Sequoia couldn't quite get it done against San Mateo in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 as they fell 20-13. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lichaa, who threw for 140 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 56 yards on only six carries.
