Softball Preview: Larue County Hawks vs. Taylor County Cardinals

Larue County is 0-7 against Taylor County since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Larue County Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Taylor County Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Larue County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Larue County stacked an 18th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They blew past Breckinridge County 8-1. That's two games straight that Larue County has won by exactly seven runs.

Isabelle Hayes was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Hayes has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in five consecutive pitching appearances. Hayes was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmaline Engle, who went 1-for-3 with a home run. Another player making a difference was Erin Hornback, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Clinton County typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Taylor County proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Bulldogs. Taylor County's victory was all the more impressive since Clinton County was averaging only 3.97 runs allowed on the season.
