Softball Game Preview: Destin Sharks vs. Booker T. Washington Wildcats

The Destin Sharks will take on the Booker T. Washington Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Destin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

Destin came up short against Notre Dame Academy on Wednesday, falling 11-3. The Sharks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anita Palmer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. She also launched a home run, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Keelie Ellis, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Booker T. Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 26-5 to Pensacola Catholic.

Booker T. Washington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kalena Barfield, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Even though they lost, Booker T. Washington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pensacola Catholic struck out 12 times.

Destin's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Booker T. Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Destin's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. Destin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game.
