Basketball Recap: White Bear Lake Comes Up Short

White Bear Lake lost against Cretin-Derham Hall back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The White Bear Lake Bears lost to the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders on the road by a 99-83 margin. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Raiders are ranked third).

Cretin-Derham Hall's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Monteff Dixon led the charge by going 13 for 16 on his way to 27 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. Dixon continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Joe Mitchell was another key player, going 11 of 21 en route to 27 points along with seven assists and five boards.

White Bear Lake dropped their record down to 11-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Cretin-Derham Hall, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. White Bear Lake will challenge Stillwater at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stillwater knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully White Bear Lake likes a good challenge. Cretin-Derham Hall has already played their next game (against Mounds View), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
