South Davidson extends home losing streak to four

Recap: South Davidson Wildcats vs. Chatham Central Bears

The South Davidson Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Chatham Central at home by a decisive 76-58 margin. South Davidson has not had much luck with Chatham Central recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Chatham Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Gaines out in front who scored 19 points along with three steals. The contest was Gaines' third in a row with at least ten points. Jacob Gilliland was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

South Davidson bumped their record down to 2-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Chatham Central, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Davidson will stay at home for another game and welcome West Davidson at 1:30 p.m. on December 27th. Chatham Central will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Graham at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
