Softball Game Preview: East Mountain Timberwolves vs. Ruidoso Warriors

East Mountain hasn't had much luck against Ruidoso recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Timberwolves will challenge the Warriors at 2:00 p.m. East Mountain has given up an average of 19.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

East Mountain is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 22nd straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 15-0 to Dexter. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ruidoso never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mesilla Valley Christian School on Saturday. They never let the SonBlazers get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. Considering the Warriors have won 15 matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaya Trujillo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Ruidoso got a massive performance out of Talyn Ramos, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Ramos has posted over her last seven games. Dustine Alvarado was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Ruidoso kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

East Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Ruidoso, their record is now 17-4.

East Mountain might still be hurting after the 22-0 loss they got from Ruidoso in their previous matchup on April 3rd. Can the Timberwolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
