Basketball Recap: Metter Tigers vs. Bryan County Redskins
Metter was the 68-63 winner over Bryan County when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Metter Tigers took a hard 56-42 fall against the Bryan County Redskins on Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Metter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zion Saffore went 8 for 20 en route to 17 points in addition to eight steals and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Za'Kyah Byrd, who posted 12 points and four steals.
Even though they lost, Metter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 26 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Metter's defeat dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Bryan County, their victory was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-2.
