Baseball Recap: Currituck County Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hertford County last Friday, Currituck County came back down to earth. The Currituck County Knights fell just short of the Camden County Bruins by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 1-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Haven Clark was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Dom Espinoza was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Barth, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Currituck County's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-4. As for Camden County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

While Currituck County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
