Myers Park is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Hough is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mustangs will host the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Myers Park's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat West Mecklenburg 42-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Mustangs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Hawks are ranked 177th).
It was another big night for Josh Falzarano Jr, who rushed for 67 yards and two TDs on only seven carries, and also caught one score. Another player making a difference was Ramir Watson, who threw for 125 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Hough blew past South Mecklenburg, posting a 42-10 win. The Huskies pushed the score to 42-3 by the end of the third, a deficit the Sabres cut but never quite recovered from.
Myers Park better keep an eye on Ethan Royal. He was instrumental in Hough's win, throwing for 187 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 88 yards on only nine carries. Royal has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Hough's leading receiver Jayden White was Royal's top target yet again, picking up 105 receiving yards and three scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Hough proved: they limited South Mecklenburg to a paltry 0.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Ryan Peterson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Hough didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged seven.
Hough's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Myers Park, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Watson and Royal. Watson just won't slow down this season and has thrown 15 touchdowns (and and only 2 pick) while averaging 138.6 passing yards per game. Royal has been a dominant force too and has thrown 15 touchdowns while averaging 181.9 passing yards per game.
Myers Park took a serious blow against Hough in their previous matchup back in August of 2024, falling 52-13. Thankfully for the Mustangs, Ralph (Trey) Blakeney (who threw for 323 yards and six touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 38 yards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
