Basketball Recap: Oakwood Academy Piles Up the Points Against Huntsville Christian Academy

Oakwood Academy was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Huntsville Christian Academy on Thursday. The Oakwood Academy Mustangs really took it to the Huntsville Christian Academy Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 108-25 victory. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Oakwood Academy had a senior duo take command as Will Lewis made all 10 shots he took for 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals and Austin Germono almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lewis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Callender, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points.

Oakwood Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Oakwood Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 85.1 points per game. As for Huntsville Christian Academy, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oakwood Academy will welcome Madison Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Huntsville Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Athens Bible at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
