Volleyball Recap: Willis Wildkats vs. Oak Ridge War Eagles
After flying high against Conroe on Tuesday, Willis came back down to earth. The Wildkats fell just short of the Oak Ridge War Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Wildkats haven't had much luck with the War Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Willis took Oak Ridge into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The final score came out to 25-23, 21-25, 19-25, 25-18, 15-12.
TORI GREENEY paced Willis' offense, picking up 19 kills. GREENEY got some help from CARLEIGH KNOBLACH and her 21 assists. GREENEY was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.
Willis' defeat dropped their record down to 22-19. As for Oak Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-9 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Willis is set to square off against their familiar foe Grand Oaks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Oak Ridge will challenge rival Caney Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
