Baseball Recap: Simeon Extends Winning Streak to Three

Simeon had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Jones Eagles. For the Wolverines, this counts as revenge for the 14-7 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Aiden Pondexter was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Simeon is 5-0-1 when Pondexter posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Jones Jr, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Simeon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in three consecutive games.

Simeon's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Jones, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Simeon will have a chance to go back-to-back against Jones: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
