League recap: Gates County extends winning streak with victory over KIPP Pride

Gates County extended the longest winning streak in 1A Tar-Roanoke this week by beating KIPP Pride, 41-6. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Weldon took down Rocky Mount Prep 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Northampton County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Jaguars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Keion Crossen has thrown for 425 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Brian Lassiter has four catches for 212 yards. Lassiter leads the league in rushing with 929 yards.

Northampton County's Lassiter needs only 71 yards against Riverside next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when North Edgecombe takes on the Chargers. As it stands, the Warriors are in fourth, while Weldon is in fifth.

Grady Williams Jr's team led 1A Tar-Roanoke in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Rocky Mount Prep.
