Softball Recap: Hewitt-Trussville Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Moody

Hewitt-Trussville faced Moody in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Huskies fell 9-6 to the Blue Devils. The Huskies' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Lauren Whitaker was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Corey Goguts and Makaila Hope stepped up to the plate in a big way. Goguts went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Hope went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Hewitt-Trussville's defeat dropped their record down to 25-12. As for Moody, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hewitt-Trussville will welcome Vestavia Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Moody, they will take on Horseshoe Bend in a tournament on Friday.
