Basketball Recap: Biggs' Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

Biggs won the last time they faced Fall River and things went their way on Saturday too. The Wolverines came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 55-48. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 831st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Skyler Long went supernova, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Brewer, who went 5-for-11 en route to 14 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Biggs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Erick Mendoza, who shot 55% from the field on his way to 18 points. Mendoza has also also been stellar as far as three-point shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Raul Iniguez, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 16 points.

Biggs' record now sits at 3-1. As for Fall River, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Biggs has already played their next contest, a 57-51 win against Chester on the 9th. As for Fall River, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-31 loss against Red Bluff on the 8th.
