Preview: Millard Eagles vs. Kanab Cowboys
Millard and Kanab are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Millard Eagles will be playing at home against the Kanab Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Millard will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Kanab is ranked eighth).
Millard suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Thursday. They suffered a tough 59-39 defeat at the hands of Enterprise.
Despite the loss, Millard saw an underclassman step up: Emily Stephenson scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Stephenson grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Eliza Larsen, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Kanab scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Water Canyon 86-22 at home. Kanab has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Millard's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Kanab, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-2.
Things could have been worse for Millard, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-47 loss to Kanab in their previous matchup back in December of 2022.
