Preview: Wilson Tigers vs. Myrtle Beach Seahawks
Wilson is 9-1 against Myrtle Beach since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Wilson Tigers will be playing at home against the Myrtle Beach Seahawks at 7:30 p.m. Wilson will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Last Monday, Wilson faced Lancaster in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Wilson came out on top in a nail-biter against Lancaster and snuck past 66-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Wilson has posted yet this season.
Wilson's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Josh Leonard, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, and Tristan Thompson, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Khristian Bruce, who scored ten points.
Even though Myrtle Beach has not done well against Conway recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Myrtle Beach took down Conway 53-37. The win was just what Myrtle Beach needed coming off of a 68-48 loss in their prior contest.
Wilson is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Myrtle Beach, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-10.
Everything came up roses for Wilson against Myrtle Beach in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 70-41 win. Does Wilson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Myrtle Beach turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
