Softball Recap: Verdugo Hills Takes a Loss

If Verdugo Hills was feeling good fresh off their 15-3 takedown of Poly last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dons fell just short of the San Fernando Tigers by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Dons in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Madesyn Meadows was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Meadows was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Bella Garibay made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Lauren Brink, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Verdugo Hills now has a losing record of 5-6-1. As for San Fernando, they moved to 8-12 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Verdugo Hills will venture away from home to square off against Chavez at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for San Fernando, they will square off against La Canada at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
