Basketball Game Preview: Pilibos Eagles vs. Oakwood Owls

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Pilibos Eagles take on the Oakwood Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday... Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Pilibos beat Shalhevet 43-38. The 43-point effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Antranik Balian was his usual excellent self, going 10 for 23 on his way to 25 points and eight boards. The contest was his 17th in a row with at least ten points. David Boyadjian was another key player, putting up five points.

Meanwhile, Oakwood posted their biggest win since December 4, 2024 last Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 72-46 margin over de Toledo. Given the Owls' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while the Jaguars are ranked 919th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pilibos' victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Oakwood, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Pilibos beat Oakwood 74-63 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Will Pilibos repeat their success, or does Oakwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
