Recap: Mesa Jackrabbits vs. Canyon View Jaguars
The Mesa Jackrabbits were the 64-46 winner over the Canyon View Jaguars when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Mesa fell 67-60 to Canyon View on Monday. Mesa has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Mesa's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Conway Cummard, who scored 16 points. Cummard scored a full 26.7% of Mesa's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Seumanu, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Canyon View, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesa will square off against Desert Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Mesa likes a good challenge. Canyon View won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Desert Edge at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Desert Edge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Canyon View is ranked 26th).
