Baseball Game Preview: Lockport Porters vs. Lincoln-Way Central Knights

The Lockport Porters will head out on the road to take on the Lincoln-Way Central Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Lockport is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

If Lockport beats Lincoln-Way Central with nine runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Porters came out on top against Morris by a score of 9-5 on Friday.

Joey DalPonte looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Nick Moerman was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adam Kozak, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way Central came up short against Lincoln-Way East on Saturday and fell 5-1. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lockport pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Lincoln-Way Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Lockport came out on top in a nail-biter against Lincoln-Way Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Porters since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
