Basketball Recap: Melania Couret's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Merrol Hyde Magnet over Westmoreland

After soaring to 64 points the game before, Merrol Hyde Magnet was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They took a 42-23 bruising from the Westmoreland Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-33 two weeks ago.

Merrol Hyde Magnet's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Melania Couret, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Juliet Montgomery, who had seven points.

Merrol Hyde Magnet has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. The victory was the fifth in a row for Westmoreland, bringing their record for this year to 13-9.

As of now, neither Merrol Hyde Magnet nor Westmoreland have any future games scheduled.
