Basketball Recap: Sierra Comes Up Short

Sierra was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 60-53 to the Widefield Gladiators. The Stallions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gladiators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Trevin Stemler continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Widefield, almost dropping a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds. Stemler continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Washington, who posted 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Sierra's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Widefield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Looking ahead, Sierra will face off against Mitchell at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sierra is facing Mitchell at the right time seeing as Mitchell is stuck on a 17-game losing streak. As for Widefield, they will challenge Canon City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
