Baseball Game Preview: Hemlock Huskies vs. Garber Dukes

The Hemlock Huskies will face off against the Garber Dukes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hemlock's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Ithaca 15-0. The victory was just business as usual for the Huskies, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

While Garber didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Birch Run on Thursday as they made off with a 15-0 win. The Dukes have beaten the Panthers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Alex Mularz was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Mularz was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Anthony Solinski and Nathan Foret did most of the damage at the plate: Solinski went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Foret went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Foret is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Inda, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Garber always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Garber's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hemlock, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
