Baseball Recap: John Marshall Takes a Loss

John Marshall extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 5-7. They lost 22-1 to the Wickliffe Blue Devils. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Lawyers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Wickliffe, they moved to 7-12 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Wickliffe's part, Shawn Aheimer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Aheimer posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Frankie Bucar was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Gio Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

John Marshall does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wickliffe, they will take on Brush at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Arcs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.37 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
