Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Castle). They never let the Hancock County Hornets get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Bailey Gravens tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Sadie Winsett was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in June of 2024. Maddie Rose was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
Castle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Castle's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Hancock County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.
Coming up, Castle will host Evansville Mater Dei at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hancock County, they will head out on the road to face off against Owensboro at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
